Role Overview

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level System Engineer eager to build a career in IT infrastructure and systems administration. In this role, you will support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of operating systems, hardware, and network components. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to grow in a dynamic and collaborative IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and basic maintenance of Windows Server and various Linux distributions. Learn to perform routine updates and apply hotfixes under supervision to ensure system security and stability.
  • Develop an understanding of network configuration, including IP addressing, subnetting, and DNS. Assist in implementing basic network security measures.
  • Troubleshoot secure remote access protocols, specifically Secure Shell (SSH) for Linux and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for Windows systems.
  • Gain familiarity with mail protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) to assist with internal email system support and troubleshooting.
  • Apply systematic troubleshooting steps for issues related to operating systems, applications, and hardware. Assist with gathering information from users & system logs.
  • Begin to understand basic scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) to assist with automating simple administrative tasks.
  • Help maintain documentation of system configurations and operational procedures. Assist with preparing basic reports on system status.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and IT professionals, actively seeking guidance and contributing to shared goals.

Requirements Skills

  • Foundational understanding of Windows Server and common Linux distributions (e.g., Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat), including command-line operations and file system navigation.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addressing, subnetting, and DNS concepts.
  • Familiarity with basic usage of SSH (Linux) and RDP (Windows).
  • Awareness of mail protocols like SMTP, POP3, and IMAP.
  • Ability to follow a structured approach to identifying and resolving OS and hardware issues.
  • Basic knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) or a willingness to learn.
  • Awareness of tools like VMware, Docker, and basic cloud concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eagerness to apply structured thinking to resolve issues.
  • Good verbal and written skills to interact with team members and users.
  • High motivation to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving environments.
  • Ability to work well in a team, take feedback, and contribute to group success.

Soft Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Entry-level role; 0–2 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or internships. Personal IT projects or labs are a plus.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or entry-level certifications from Microsoft (Windows Server), or Linux (Linux Essentials, LPIC-1, RHCSA) certification is a plus.
